Who and Where are my True Friends?
Saturday, October 20th, 2007If someone is going to stop talking to you because you talk to someone they
“think badly of” then they aren’t a true friend. Right? I think so… They may
express their personal feelings to you but when they stop a friendship or think
differently of you because of a personal choice you make - then they weren’t a
real friend, after all. That’s my thoughts, anyhow.
A true friend is someone who is loyal. Someone you can trust, that helps you,
is kind and comforting. A true friend should be there for you when you need
them. Someone you can talk to, who will listen. Someone who is likely to cry if
they see you crying. Someone who will stand by you in your hard times and
understand you can make your own choices.
That said… A true friend is something I wish I had right now, someone in
addition to my husband (who is my best friend). I haven’t a true friend since I left Singapore. It
took me over a year before I found one when I moved to worked in Singapore,
after moving there I am not sure how many miles from
home(Philippines)-:(. When I came here in the US , it was like starting
all over, friends included. I don’t want someone who will be my friend
just because they think I’m a good person and then belittle my choices
because they aren’t the same choices they’d make or if they will think
differently of me because I talk to some folks they “don’t like”
because of “who” they are. I know so many good people who may not live
the way I do, who may even not believe the same as me… but I still love
them, I still understand their rights to do, think, live and believe
the way they want.
I missed all my true friends in Singapore and Philippines. I know one day we’re all be together again.
